We have been in Deltaville in Virginia for just over a week now, and so far the progress on the boat has been slow. David and I have worked away as busy bees but the yard did not do what promised and we were a bit unhappy. Also, the weather was cold, wet and windy. We went to Norfolk to get our cruising permit sorted out but to no joy. We were treated as if we were a freighter or oil tanker and no alternative seem available for yachts.
Now the sun has come out with blue sky from wall to wall and the temperature is rising. David had a surveyor going through the boat on Monday and he is sending us a list of items which need attention. David saw the yard manager yesterday and right away a chap came along and he is already busy working away putting in the isolator/charger. The macerator /wc system is the next thing which needs done, and then of course whatever the surveyor came up with, such as rodder problems for which we need the drawings from home.
We recon we will be here for an other fortnight before starting off. The area is very nice with boating activities as main occupation. It is lovely spring with new foliage on the trees and colourful birds different from our european ones. We are staying at a lovely B&B run by a delightful British couple. we are being spoiled and it is very enjoyable..
Now I must go down to the sea again...................
