We did not get the boat launched yesterday, but we have our hope for it happening this Tuesday.

We have been in Deltaville in Virginia for just over a week now, and so far the progress on the boat has been slow. David and I have worked away as busy bees but the yard did not do what promised and we were a bit unhappy. Also, the weather was cold, wet and windy. We went to Norfolk to get our cruising permit sorted out but to no joy. We were treated as if we were a freighter or oil tanker and no alternative seem available for yachts.
Now the sun has come out with blue sky from wall to wall and the temperature is rising. David had a surveyor going through the boat on Monday and he is sending us a list of items which need attention. David saw the yard manager yesterday and right away a chap came along and he is already busy working away putting in the isolator/charger. The macerator /wc system is the next thing which needs done, and then of course whatever the surveyor came up with, such as rodder problems for which we need the drawings from home.
We recon we will be here for an other fortnight before starting off. The area is very nice with boating activities as main occupation. It is lovely spring with new foliage on the trees and colourful birds different from our european ones. We are staying at a lovely B&B run by a delightful British couple. we are being spoiled and it is very enjoyable.

Now I must go down to the sea again...................

Winery visit!
er

The weather is improving, the cicadas are singing and the swallows are here. The dogwood are beautiful with their white blossom and a sort of wisteria with its blue blossom grow wild in the woods. I have seen bluebirds, mucking birds, the bright red cardinal, and an osprey was flying off with a big fish in its claws along the river. Yes, this is the land of wine and honey. God's own country! but don't tell George Bush or he'll say that he made it!
Yesterday I went with Jill , our B & B hostess along to a winery for a gathering of the local tourist board. The vineyard was almost two hours drive away. I enjoyed the ride through the Virginian countryside in the spring sunshine, over bridges and along beautiful country lanes. The vineyard was a nice rural farm with a small visitors center where the meeting took place.
I found the experience almost surreal, as people asked me weird questions and thought my name was strange, that I had sailed across the Atlantic was amazing, and that I was making Birch sap wine in Scotland was equally strage. However the wine tasting and the spread of food was good.

Deltaville, VA
. This is Gods own country
! But dont tell George Bush!

Arrival to Deltaville, VA, US
We arrived Friday evening to Deltaville after a very long day. There were no hick-ups during the trip except loosing the luggage between Chicago and Richmond, as two big mammas in the airport told us where to leave our bagage- trolleys and of course nothing happened after that. However all our bags arrived by taxi at 5am next morning.
Deltaville is a small village very spread out on a peninsula, only 1/2mile wide, at the Rappahannock River. There are trees all around, so you don't get the impression of the sea except that almost every house has a boat at the bottum of the garden. Our B&B is Sanderling House, is run very efficiently by a british couple, Jill & Don Walter. The boat-yard is ten minutes away on bicycles, which we borrowed from a friendly chap at the yard.
The weather was good when we first arrived , very mild and pleasant, but now is it cold and rainy like home.
It was good being onboard Aros More again. We thought that we had to do most of the work ourselves, but the yard-owner, Geoff Scroeder, says all is in hand. They will manage both the electrics (isolator and invertor/charger), put in the macerator / toilet- system and do the antifouling. David is sorting out boat survey, getting the liferaft serviced and getting our cruising permit.
So, everything is falling into place and hopefully we get the boat launched soon.
Amkomst til Deltaville,VA. USA In Danish

Getting organized to leave Scotland.
I have just been linked up to Arosmore homepage which is quite an achievement so I can tell you my side of the story.
it is cold and blustery in Scotland but I am about to go out and plant my ten tomato plants in the greenhouse. David planted potatoes yesterday and he has cut the grass twice. There is still snow in the hills!
In three days we fly out to Virginia US to stay in a B&B for a couple of weeks while we get Yacht Aros More ready for launching.
We have a lot of last minute things to organize and do. We'll get there!
